Let's save you some time.
Here are some questions that we receive frequently that you might have as well!
-
Currently, both piano and guitar lessons run at $25.00 per lesson. This includes all the necessary materials (books, sheet music, etc.) as well as two performances per year.
-
We do 30 minute in-home classes, every week. Your child is expected to practice on their own for at least 15-30 uninterrupted minutes (depending on age) every day their teacher is not there.
-
Lesson fees are paid in advance for one (1) month at a time, on either the first day of the month or the first day that lessons are scheduled depending on your payment method of choice.
All of our teachers are equipped with credit card readers, and we also accept Interac e-Transfers to billing@firstmusicacademy.ca.
-
No worries, it happens to everyone. Unfortunately, we do not give refunds under these circumstances due to the scheduling cost of our instructors. However, you are welcome and encouraged to reschedule your lesson for another time within the month.
Should your instructor have to cancel, you can choose to either receive a refund or a credit towards the next month of lessons.
If you know ahead of time that you will be away for one or more classes for the month, please let us know and you will only have to pay for the ones you plan on having.

No, we do not. We recommend purchasing a less expensive or used instrument over renting one.
-
No problem- pianos are a big investment so we get it. All of our piano instructors have one at their homes, and as long as you’re willing to travel, we’ll take care of you.
After a few lessons, we recommend that you consider purchasing a keyboard with weighted keys so your child can practice and have lessons at home.

Your child’s instructor will have a bit more insight than we are able to provide here, but the most important thing is comfort.
Have them hold it in the playing position, and assess comfort from there.
